Design a lighty text effect in Photoshop

In this tutorial,I`ll show you how to create a great text effect using shadows and lights and a secondly part image for the background.

Along the way, we will use various layer blending options plus filter effects for the text. It`s a simple tutorial suitable for Photoshop beginners.Take a look…

Create a new document in Photoshop, with the size of 800x519px because those are the dimensions of the secondly part image that i used. Fill the background layer with red colour.

Now let’s create some background lighting. To do this, simply grab the Gradient Tool (G) and choose the Radial Gradient option, Fill the background layer as shown below:

On the background layer, type some texts on it. You may choose any font you like. For this tutorial,I used Calibri font.

On the text layer, apply the following layer blending options:

Drop Shadow:

Inner Shadow:

Outer glow:

Inner glow:

Bevel and Emboss:

Gradient overlay:

And finally,the stroke:

Now you will have something like this:

Now let`s add the image we talked about in the beginning of the tutorial. It`s a scratched image and you can download it from here.

Make a new layer and insert the image into it.Make sure that the layer is on top of the previous layers.Go to Layer->Layer style->Blending options and change the blend mode to “Soft Light”.Now you have something looking like this:

Now let`s add the lightning effect. With the image layer still selected,go to Filter->Render->Lightning Effects and apply the effect like in the next image:

You should have something looking like this:

Now we`ll make the text to look like it has shadows.Duplicate the text layer, right click on it and choose “Clear Layer Style”.Place the cleared layer under the text layer and into the “Blending options” give him a “Color overlay” of #292929.Move the layer 10px to the right and 5px to the bottom of the canvas image to make the shadow effect.

To make the text looking more lighted, let`s add sunlight.

Selecting the Rectange tool(U) draw 4 or 5 tripes.Make them tall because we`ll have to rotate them over the diagonal of the image.Rasterize the stripes layers and merge them toghether.Give the new layer Opacity of 35% and Fill of 35% too.

Our image should look like this:

Go to Edit->Transform->Perspective and with the Shift task pressed, drag the top-left corner to the right, like in the image(make sure that the image skew is 16-17 degrees):

Now go to Filter->Blur->Gaussian Blur and choose a radius of 10-15pixels.

Our image should look like this:

Now rotate the stripes layer -45 degrees. That`s it.Take a look at our final image…
