The WordPress theme marketplace has been steadily growing over the past couple of years. What started out as a side-project, today powers over 29%(and counting) of all the websites on the Internet.
People have built businesses around selling WordPress themes – not to mention that people have built businesses by creating websites based on themes, many of them, multipurpose WordPress themes. Let’s take a look at the most popular themes in the WordPress marketplace today.
Divi by ElegantThemes ($69)
ElegantThemes is one of the most trusted WordPress theme brands over 400,000 paying customers. Their flagship theme Divi is one of the best drag-and-drop, frontend visual composers out there.
Plus when you buy it, you get all the other themes ElegantThemes has built over the years.

Kalium is one of my favourite creative themes.
Most of its demos (specially the fashion-oriented ones) feature a full-screen video background.
Stack – Multi-Purpose WordPress Theme with Variant Page Builder & Visual Composer ($59)
A clever play by the developers to piggyback on Slack’s popularity.
However, I found this theme’s tech/app landing pages to be pretty attractive.
Marquee by AudioTheme ($69)
Another theme that I picked from the WordPress.com store — this is for musicians who’d like to feature their work online.
TheGem – Creative Multi-Purpose High-Performance WordPress Theme ($59)
An excellent option for digital agencies — the page-load times are pretty low in this theme.

The theme’s full-screen background gives a rich tone to the overall visual appeal of the site.
Real estate websites generally have a premium factor attached to them — mostly since the value of individual transactions are pretty high.

It is a classic directory listing theme with an intuitive user experience design.

One of the things I like about Infinite is its header layout options.
The theme loads in a giffy and has multiple demo pages.

This is the spa demo of the Ark theme.
Being multipurpose, this theme can float into almost any corporate/business website.

The publisher theme is an excellent fit for online magazines.
EasyWeb – WP Theme For Hosting, SEO and Web-Design Agencies ($59)
Although the name suggests SEO, there are a host of other demos in this theme.
I found this one to be most interesting with a video background.

This is the masonry grid demo layout of the Werkstatt theme.
It comes with multiple other demos at the same cost making it an excellent choice for creative professionals to showcase their portfolio.

A BuzzFeed-themed WordPress theme, BoomBox has multiple other demos that resonate with a specific group of audiences.

If you ever wanted to build an eBay themed store on WordPress (coupled with WooCommerce of course), Electro would be your answer.
The theme has 3 layouts for the online store and comes with built-in compatibility for WooCommerce.
